South Korea and the United States will hold working-level defense talks in Seoul on Monday and Tuesday.
The 20th Korea-U.S. Integrated Defense Dialogue(KIDD) is expected to discuss a wide range of alliance issues as it comes ahead of the 53rd Korea-U.S. Security Consultative Meeting set for November in Seoul.
The two sides will reportedly form four subgroups and hold discussions for seven to eight hours a day.
According to Seoul’s Defense Ministry, the two sides will share their assessment of the security condition on the Korean Peninsula and discuss policy cooperation in efforts to achieve the complete denuclearization of the region and establish lasting peace.
Deputy Defense Minister Kim Man-ki and Siddharth Mohandas, U.S. deputy assistant secretary of defense for East Asia, will represent the two sides with about 30 defense officials and diplomats attending.
The officials are expected to share assessments on North Korea’s recent overture on talks and the North’s missile tests as well.
